About the event
Join us Sunday, March 9th from 3:30pm to 5:30pm for "My Father, Xu Beihong: Music Inspired by His Art."
The presenter, Xu Fangfang lives in STL, but was raised in China during the Chairman Mao Cultural Revolution. Her father was the leading artist in China at that time and was trained in Western Art in Europe and created a bridge with Chinese Dynasty art. The Cultural Revolution destroyed much of that advancement in the arts and created tragedy for her family. Her mother fought against all odds to preserve the art. Her presentation will also include part of a piano concerto that she performed at the Lincoln Center. She will have CDs and copies of her book for sale. She can only accept cash. This is a collaborative presentation with Crossroads Arts Council.
