Weekly Greeting from Pastor Mark

Dear Friends,
What a great evening last night with Lindley Creek Bluegrass and Barbecue. We chowed down with brisket, pulled pork, and chicken along with yummy sides. Yum. I hope you were able to attend in person or via the Internet. It may be on our website so check it out. A big thank you to the volunteers who helped set up, take down, and provide side dishes.
We have almost enough homes and beds for our Youth Choir from the Church of the Savior in Cincinnati, Ohio. We have four girls and four adults so please step up. They will be here on Thursday, June 8. We need four more beds. I have confidence we can do it!
I hate to boast but Sunday, June 4th is my last Sunday in the pulpit at WUMC. We are planning one service at 10 a.m. followed by a potluck dinner. We are providing the meat, you are bringing salads and side dishes. There will be one big cake with ice cream. Please let me know if you plan to attend the meal. We don’t want to run out of the main entrée and how big a cake do we need to get? We’ll find out.
This Sunday is Mother’s Day. Carole Ann has a special treat for our mothers and projects for the children during Children’s Time so plan on being in worship this coming Sunday. Our Scripture Sunday is John 14:15-21. Jesus is telling his followers, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments, and …he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever..” I love that promise and I do my best to follow those instructions. They are life-giving words that guide my decision-making. Come to worship on Sunday and we’ll talk more about Jesus, his promise, and how Christ supplies our needs.
God bless us, everyone. Pastor Mark
