Dear Friends,
Welcome to the first day of September. Cooler temperatures will come and the fall colors will arrive in October. Friday night football at the high school along with our favorite college and professional teams. It’s an exciting time of year and for some of us, it’s time to get back to attending worship and bible studies. The life of the church kicks back in with Adult Choir and Handbells, Wednesday discussion groups and church dinners. I look forward to seeing the church calendar full of activities.
Several dates and activities are nearly here, Friday, September 9th we will have an open mic night with a coffee house theme starting at 6:30 p.m.. Good entertainment and great food to be enjoyed. Saturday, September 10th has several events: Sleep in Heavenly Peace will build bunk beds at The Way from 9-noon and 1-4 p.m.. Our United Women of Faith will offer a learning time, “The Church & People w/ Disabilities from noon to 3 p.m.. Lunch is provided. Please see Sally Adams.
This Sunday, we will celebrate Holy Communion at both services and enjoy the Adult Choir return to the 9.a.m. service. I enjoy both the Adult Choir and Redeemed. Different styles of music that lift praise and worship higher and higher each Sunday. Soon our Handbell Ensemble will return and what a joy they bring to worship.
If you would like to prepare for the Sunday sermon, read Luke 14:25-33. Jesus is speaking to his followers about following him. There were stipulations that may be a mystery in our modern world. Have we taken our faith in Christ too casually or our practice of faith for granted? We’ll talk more on Sunday.
God bless us every one,
Pastor Mark
