Dear Friends,
Today is Maundy Thursday. We remember the Last Supper, Jesus praying in the garden, and Judas betraying Jesus with a kiss. We invite you to join us this evening for our Maundy Thursday/Tenebrae Service at 6:30 pm. Tomorrow is Good Friday. Jesus was tried for hearsay during the night and taken to Herod and Pilate for trial and sentencing. Pilate found no reason to put Jesus to death but the people were compelled to say the words, “Crucify him.” We cannot get to Easter and resurrection without this awful event. We cannot have our sins forgiven without Jesus’ atonement. It is painful to remember yet necessary. I will walk with you in these memories.
Easter Sunday is coming. We will worship the Risen Christ at Sunrise at 6:20 a.m. on the front pad weather permitting. If it’s cold and wet we’ll move inside to the sanctuary. Breakfast follows in the Cafe. I hope you’ll come and worship our Risen Lord.
Worship at 9 and 10:30 a.m. is in the sanctuary and CLC. The choir is ready and the room is set. We will have an easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. hopefully outside if Mother Nature cooperates, if not we’ll move inside and still have fun. This is for all ages up to Middle School children. Bring your Easter baskets. We’ll have bags as well for the candy afterward.
The office will be closed Monday, April 18th. We will be recovering from a very busy Holy Week. Sunday, April 24th offers a special guest speaker, Rev. Kayla Kelly. The Central Methodist University Praise band will offer special music at 9 a.m. and lead the 10:30 worship. It’ll be a great day of music and inspirational worship.
I look forward to seeing you tonight at our Maundy Thursday service and on Easter Sunday.
Pastor Mark
