Dear Friends,
I am glad to return home after a few days visiting with my daughter Sarah and son n law David in Austin, TX. They recently moved into a newly built house. Our part was to help them make it feel like home. They are so excited and happy. We look forward to future visits and hopefully grandchildren in time. Our son Zach and daughter n law Paige are doing well in Springfield, MO so equal time will need to be found for them. Chris and I are finding out what so many of this congregation already know, your children grow up and become their own people with their likes and dislikes so our parenting has changed.
Our scripture this week is Acts 2:1-13. We are celebrating Pentecost so wear your red and show your spirit. It should be a great day of worship. There are six youth graduating from local high schools. We will honor them and hear their last words before they head off to summer jobs and college in late August. It is a joy to have been a part of their lives and to help them mature in their faith and everyday life.
I would like to thank you to those of you who have responded to the survey we sent out earlier this week. The results will be shared with the church council and a plan put in place from there.
One ministry of WUMC is the Mary Martha Thrift Store. Kay McQuate has led our team of volunteers for many years. After shutting down for COVID19 precautions, the store has re-opened. We have two positions of leadership for our volunteers that consist of working Monday-Saturday once every eight weeks to coordinate and guide our volunteer team. It’s a big job and requires a fair amount of dedication. Monies raised at Mary Marth go to support local ministries in Wentzville and Lake St. Louis. Please consider your part as a volunteer or representative to the Mary Martha board for WUMC.
See you on Sunday, Pastor Mark
