Dear Friends:
It is feeling more like winter than fall, but the leaves are beautiful and Mother Nature’s display is fantastic.
We are looking forward to completing our Stewardship Commitment this coming Sunday. Last year, we had 119 commitments to our Ongoing Ministry Fund and 72 to our Building Fund for a combined total of $437,312. Let’s top that number by making a goal for ourselves to support our church with our financial gifts as well as our daily prayers, presence in worship, small group studies and social activities. We can also serve inside and outside the church and witness to our faith in Jesus Christ. I find it exciting as we look forward to another year of Living for God, Loving Our Neighbor and Growing in Christ.
We will have a different Scripture emphasis this Sunday; 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17. It is an Epistle that scholars debate. Did the Apostle Paul write it? Was Thessalonica the first or second community of believers outside of Jerusalem, and what problems was the author really addressing? I suggest reading both 1 and 2 Thessalonians. They are short books, but powerful in demonstrating the power of God in our lives.
Wednesday Night Dinner Don’t forget! Next Wednesday, 11/13, we have our Church Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Our Youth Group is hosting a “Breakfast Dinner” and all proceeds will benefit our youth mission and ministry.
2019-2020 Concert Series James Farquhar, cellist, and several of his musician friends will be with us on Sunday, 11/17 a 4:30 pm in the Sanctuary. Concert is FREE and open to the public. The Central Methodist University Chorale will be here on Sunday, 11/24 at 7 pm in the Christian Life Center. HOUSING ALERT! We need housing for 35 singers on Sunday night, 11/24. If you have some extra beds to share, check the Connect Card on Sunday or call the church office.
See you on Sunday,
Pastor Mark
