Wentzville United Methodist Church

Weekly Greeting from Pastor Mark

Dear Friends,

I’m humming The Twelve Days of Christmas as the Christmas decorations are coming down. It’s a little sad because they brought light and joy into our world. Alas, it is time to move on into the events of 2023.

Monday, January 9th from 8:30-11 a.m. we will be distributing food from the St. Louis Food Bank. Recent distributions have been busy and with the cooler weather, it would be good to have extras help so that we can switch out and stay warm. Would you believe we’ve offered this service to our community since January of 2022. PTL!

Next Wednesday, January 10th we have our first church dinner of 2023. The Youth are hosting and preparing a hearty spaghetti dinner. The proceeds will go toward their mission trip in June. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m..

Monday, January 16th at 10 a.m. the Martin Luther King Jr walk for peace and justice will take place at Pearce Hall. We have a speaker, Rev. Dr. Anthony Witherspoon and a soloist Erica Reed. Following the event inside the chapel at Pearce Hall we’ll walk to the flagpole at the east end of Pearce Blvd. I hope you will come and stand for peace and justice in our community.

This Sunday we remember the baptism of Jesus by John The baptizer found in Matthew 3:12-17. Most of us were baptized as infants and some as youth or adults but either way we are children of God and part of God’s kingdom. Come, let us remember when God called our name and revealed his love for us in Christ Jesus.

I’ll look for you on Sunday, Pastor Mark
