Weekly Greeting from Pastor Mark
Happy New Year! I’m not ready to stop saying Merry Christmas. It is such a jolly and bright season of sharing our love of God with one another. I look into the coming months and steady myself for cold winds and the bite of winter. Maybe it won’t be so bad but winter is a season of rest for all of nature, including us.
This coming week, the church comes alive again. Bell and Choir rehearsal on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Bible studies and Book Club resume. I hope you will join me on Wednesday evenings for a study titled, “Jesus Revealed.” It is written by Matt Rawle about the “I Am” statements of Jesus in the Book of John. This will be in person and zoom so those who don’t want to venture out into the cold can participate. This study will begin Wednesday, January 18th from 6-7 p.m. for five weeks.
If you would like to read ahead, the scripture this week is Matthew 2:1-12. The Magi come seeking the newborn king. Herod is alarmed and God intervenes to protect the holy family. It also moves the story on to the next events in the life of Christ.
If you would like to come a bit early, worship is at 11 a.m. but we will have coffee and refreshments available at 10 a.m. in the Cafe. It’s a good time to socialize and get that morning cup of coffee after welcoming in the new year.
For those who have been watching the news about the Anne Malone Crisis Center and the damages they occurred due to water pipe burst; we will be collecting for a few weeks as a special offering for those who would like to give. Please mark your check or envelope Anne Malone.
Be safe, enjoy celebrating the end of 2022 and the beginning of a new year 2023.
God bless us every one, Pastor Mark
