Wentzville United Methodist Church

Weekly Greeting from Pastor Mark

Dear Friends,

I am sure Spring has sprung but it feels like winter, brrrr. The showers will stimulate the grass, trees and flowers, so hang in there. Spring will show up soon. I hope!

Our Adopt a Family has filled orders for the Nurses Needs Program from all Wentzville Schools. It’s the largest order yet so the need is present. The school nurses are doing their best and our support makes a difference. Thank you to those shopping, packing and delivering the school nurse supplies. You all are a blessing, especially Lisa and Holly. Good job ladies!

Our scripture this week is short and sweet but filled with emotion and intrigue. Mary anoints Jesus’ feet with perfume but Judas complains. “The money could have been given to the poor.” (v5) but Mary’s extravagant gift was recognized by Jesus. Acts of love and devotion far outweigh the penny pinching of Judas. He wanted it for himself but gifts to Jesus are acts of love. I wonder what the perfume smelled like and how it permeated the room. Jesus liked it and I’m sure Mary was happy. Take a look at John 12:1-8 and meditate on these verses. Allow your imagination to see their faces, your nose to smell the sweet aroma and your ears to hear the sounds of awe and wonder. It’s a fascinating story and we’ll talk about it on Sunday.

God bless us every one, Pastor Mark
