Wentzville United Methodist Church

Weekly Greeting from Pastor Mark

Dear Friends,

It is with a sad heart that I share with you, Beverly Phipps passed away last evening. She was going to be 96 years old in May. What a beautiful life and testimony to her faith. Our hearts are broken as we recall the memories of Beverly and her family. Please keep the Phipps family in your prayers. Details of the service will be shared when available.

We are in the middle of the Lenten season. I hope you have been able to keep your chosen disciplines of prayer, meditation, worship, and fasting as you are able. Our youth have been attending Confirmation Class on Wednesday evenings. What a spirited group. I am glad for their interest in the faith and life of the church. We will celebrate their confirmation on May 15th.

This week our scripture lesson is Luke 15:1-2, 11-32. It is a parable about a father and his two sons. We know the story well but how does it apply to us today? What feelings are generated when we hear the son’s response to their father’s offer of grace and mercy? I look forward to sharing this familiar lesson with you on Sunday.

God bless us every one, Pastor Mark
