We-Mail from Pastor Mark
Summer vacations are winding down and school bells will be ringing to chime in the new school year. It’s sad for the students as they make preparations with mom and dad to purchase school supplies and update their closets. A new outfit on the first day of school was always exciting for my children along with a new backpack along filled with paper and pencils, glue, and other supplies. Our Adopt A Family Back to School Supplies Collection is in full swing. Please check our website for the list and bring your purchases to church on Sunday. The AAF box is on the right side of the lobby next to the Connection Center.
The past few weeks have been frightening with the COVID19 positivity rate rising above 15%. It is just below 14.8% today so face masks are optional. We will be socially distanced this week in seating. My prayer is for the community to be vaccinated and safe practices followed until we are well beyond the threat of infection but schools are returning and close contact will become a factor. Be Safe and Stay Well!
Our scripture reading this week is from Philippians 4:4-9. The Apostle Paul was writing to encourage and update the church at Philippi. His words are encouraging and joyful which is our theme this week: Abundant Joy. I look forward to seeing you in person or on the internet as we talk about joy and how to increase our joy in the Lord.
Next week Miss Judy will be on vacation and we have volunteers answering the telephone. Be aware the office will be open 9-noon. You can call, text, email, or leave a message and I’ll be in touch ASAP!
Have a great vacation, Miss Judy. We’ll hold you in our prayers for a fun and relaxing vacation with a safe return.
Thank you to all the volunteers who stepped up to schedule packing and delivery for our Operation BackPack ministry. We all can support it with a generous financial gift that will go toward purchasing food so that children will have a snack, breakfast, and lunch during the weekend. This ministry has been well supported over the years and made a difference in hundreds of lives. Thank you!
