We-Mail from Pastor Mark

Dear Friends,

I am grateful for this time of year and natures beauty. It has been wonderful to watch the trees and flowers bud and bloom. The heart of spring is so enjoyable. I hope you are able to take a walk and enjoy Mother Nature’s color and growth. Those of you who like to garden, our Community Garden in Memorial Park could use some TLC. It’s a little early to plant but the time is getting closer and the beds need some weeding, the walks could use mulch and one of the eight beds could be yours for planting. Let me know if you’re interested.

This week we are looking at Luke 24:36b-48. Jesus is appearing to his disciples according to Luke’s understanding. The passage follows the walk to Emmaus and conversation with two of Jesus’s followers. It’s fascinating to think about their fears and turmoil regarding this interaction. I’ve never seen a ghost but felt and have been moved by the Holy Ghost. It was wonderful but a free floating soul, a spirit wondering the earth in search of who knows what? I cannot say but Jesus was none of that. His resurrected body was God’s glory at work.

Let’s reason together on Sunday and discuss this passage and our understanding of this moment. Think about your reaction if you were one of the disciples or a by-stander hearing their conversation. It must have been frightening and wonderful all at the same time.

See you on Sunday, Pastor Mark
