We-Mail from Pastor Mark

Dear Friends,

The past two weeks have been a blur. Planning worship, seeking direction for the future and supporting the work to keep our community informed has kept me busy. Our staff: Judy Hill, Traci Morlock, Todd Oberlin, Mary Kate Barnes and Angela Langdon have labored to offer meaningful worship and a healthy connection to the congregation. Our prayer team led by Joan Provinse have faithfully held each member and their concerns before God. Even our custodians have worked hard to keep the building clean and presentable in our absence. WUMC continues even with the absence of the congregation. God’s work does not shut down for pandemics.

I hope you are able to watch and participate with our online worship service. Facebook live at 9 and 1030 along with a Youtube post at 11 a.m.. Thanks to Paul Morlock and Brad Jones, we may have our new camera up and running for live streaming which will look and sound so much better. I hope you enjoy it. Did you know we have “Drive by Communion” offered from 10 -12 noon? Nik Bradly and Chuck Howington have been our communion stewards. Thank you Chuck and Nik.

The passion of Christ begins this Sunday with the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, Palm Sunday. We celebrate Maundy Thursday with Holy Communion and stories reminding us of the Last Supper, and the betrayal of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. Our service on Thursday will be online at 6:30 p.m.. You are encouraged to have bread and juice to be consecrated over the airwaves as we celebrate Holy Communion in our homes. Easter will come. We will celebrate our risen Lord but in our homes and on our front porches as the sun rises Sunday morning. God is with us. Christ died and rose from the grave so that we may have life – New Life!

I pray that you are well. Stay safe. Wash your hands and keep a safe distance from others. A time will come when we call can celebrate together. Until then, call a friend. Open the directory and call everyone on the page, even the ones you don’t know and talk to them. Before you hang up, pray together because, “Where ever two or more are gathered in my name, there I am with them.” (Matthew 18:20) I love you and pray for your good health, vibrant spirit and kind hearts.

God bless us every one
Pastor Mark
