We-Mail from Pastor Mark
We have begun the season of Lent. Some of us find giving up coffee or sweets useful to help us focus our hearts toward Christ and deepen our faith. We can also deepen our faith by joining a small group that will pray and read the Scriptures with us, then discuss how it is with our soul each week. They are called “Class Meetings.” I encourage you to give yourself to one of these small group meetings:
Sunday evening 6 p.m. in the church library off the lobby (weekly)
Wednesday evening 6 p.m. in the church library off the lobby (weekly)
2nd and 4th Wednesday 7:30 a.m. at Panera Bread in Wentzville
If you are not in a Sunday school class or other study this may be just right for you.
Many of us use a credit or debit card to pay for our groceries or gasoline. Writing a check is rare because of on-line checking. If a credit card reader was available at church to pay your tithe or Sunday offering, would you make use of it? We will have a “yes or no” question on the Connect Card this Sunday and next. Please let us know if this would be a good option.
We are into the 2nd week of our sermon series called “Cultivating and Letting Go.” Our focus is on Luke 13:31-35 when Jesus bravely faced the Pharisees about his ministry. He may have been a little fearful, but appears to use courage when addressing their threats and rebuff. That’s our focus: Courage vs Fear. Which of these are we feeling when we speak about Christ with our friends and in our community?
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday,
