We-Mail from Pastor Mark
This has been an emotional week for many of us regarding the outcome of the Special Session of the United Methodist General Conference that met this week. Three proposals for Moving Forward, along with 78 petitions and many amendments, were discussed and voted on. Two of the proposals were voted down and the Traditional Plan passed. There are issues the Judicial Board will discuss in April regarding the Traditional Plan, along with the amendments that were not considered. What this means we will find out in the months to come. Bishop Farr will conduct regional town hall meetings in the coming weeks. If you would like to read the latest news bulletin please log onto the following link: the United Methodist News Service story of the day for more information about the final decisions made by the General Conference. We are praying for those who feel dismayed by this outcome. Our goal is to include everyone possible to experience God’s love and the good news of Jesus Christ.
We are concluding our sermon series, “Freed 2 Lead” this coming Sunday. Our opening to each worship service has an inspirational component you do not want to miss, so arrive early to watch and listen to a new way of coming into worship.
Next Wednesday, March 6th is Ash Wednesday. Our service begins at 6:30 p.m. Many of us enjoy practicing a spiritual discipline during the season of Lent so we have four Class Meetings which are different than a book study because we focus on practicing our faith and being accountable to our small group in that effort. I hope you will take part in a Class Meeting.
See you on Sunday,
