WE-Mail from Pastor Mark
This weekend begins a three day special session of the United Methodist General Conference. Delegates from around the world will gather in St. Louis at the Convention Center to discuss “The Way Forward” regarding a change to our UM Discipline. Three formal proposals plus 70 petitions regarding the inclusion of LGBTQ individuals will be the topic of discussion. I ask you to pray for our delegates that a clear focus will emerge from this gathering. Any decision from this special session will return to each annual conference for a vote up or down on their recommendation to next year’s General Conference. It is a long process. There are many groups trying to influence the delegates and others outside the UM Church attempting to disturb our process. Let us pray for peace, clarity, and God’s will for the United Methodist Church.
We are signing up children for the Ignite Mobile Camp taking place July 8-12. It is a day camp, 9-4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Fun activities are planned with three focus areas in sports, computers and creative arts. We will need host families to house the counselors, volunteers to prepare lunch for the campers and help with registration. Please set aside time and let us know where you would like to participate.
This Sunday our focus in worship centers on Self-Leadership. Looking at Jeremiah 29:11-14 we will discuss the challenges we face and the practices that help lead us from the center. I look forward to seeing you after several weeks of inclement weather. It will be so good to come to worship and to visit with our friends.
See you on Sunday,
