We-Mail from Pastor Mark

Dear Friends:

We had a great response last week for Service Sunday. Following the second service we served our community by collecting coats for Crisis Nursery, making and distributing lunches for the homeless, installing a free library, providing bottled water at the soccer park, praying for area residents on a prayer walk, and offering music to residents at Twin Oaks at Heritage Pointe Assisted Living.

Our community garden project has come to a seasonal end. I thank Herb McGill, Lana Nack and Amy Barlow, along with our youth, who watered and distributed vegetables to the residents of the Heights subdivision off of Pitman Road. We will prepare the soil next spring for another growing season to help those who are hungry and teach residents how to grow their own produce.

This Sunday we will begin a new sermon series titled, “First.” We will focus on what have become modern idols, how we consider our money/work/and debt, followed by generating a giving heart. October typically has a stewardship emphasis, so naturally at the end of the month we will ask each member and regular guest to make a stewardship pledge. It’s not about money. It’s about using God-given talents for ministry. I look forward to discussing this important topic with you on Sunday.

Chili Cook-Off
Our annual Chili Cook-Off is next Wednesday, 10/10 at 5:30 pm. We have 5 entries and can use many more! Check the Connect Card on Sunday. Everyone is welcome to enjoy – $5 will get you one voting ticket and a great meal. So invite your family and friends and cast your vote for the winning entry!

Office Hours
Next week the office will be open from 8:30 am until 1 pm, Monday through Thursday. Donna Norman will be on vacation and staffing will be handled by Pat Herren and Sonja Roderick during these hours.

God bless us every one,

Pastor Mark
